Happy Chinese New Year everyone!

Well as much as I would love red pockets from everyone ;) I'm afraid I can't reciprocate the action, hehehe, I love being not married and kinda love-hate relationship with the not having a steady job part. Haven't counted all of mine up yet. Aha! Leach doesn't get as many this year! Neither does Wong. *shakes head for sympathy*

So last night, we had the usual (mind you my mum hasn't actually cooked a full feast meal for 10 years, [no not kidding]) had pork knuckles, steamed fish, the dried oysters, mushrooms, faat choy, chinese cabbage, prawns, steamed chicken and soup of pig's tongue and pancreas. All very nice. We're having it again for dinner tonight.

Also hoping to pop up to the Hunter some time this week, possibly not tomorrow, I'm hoping Tuesday or Wednesday coz my sleeping schedule is completely wacko, as known by people on MSN at 0200. So if there's any great sparkling wines or white wines, I most likely will buy a dozen or so and have it for my 21st. Yea baby... ;)

So I'm gonna purchase the Tix for moonlight tomorrow, yays! I have permission to use my mum's credit card, which has not expired yet, yes! Yays! Will post to confirm there's enough spots later tomorrow.

Oh yea, Angi, when will you be back in Lilyfield? Coz I'll make a pudding and bring it over when you're there. And I've got some other things to drop over there as well ;) and nick as well. Ooooh yes, I ordered some black thigh high fishnets off ebay, brand new of course. I like them very, very much. Kheeheehee.

Current background noise: DPDO - 1990 version - Maskenball
Current craving: water, water, water...
Concurrent webpage: ff and weather

Recent purchases:
- 2 x black thigh high fishnets
- bbq food - final of the little book series I've been collecting these past coupla years
- The Boy in Striped PJs by John Boyne
- CATCF by Roald Dahl - coz I lent mine to a friend in year 5 and haven't seen it since. Therefore haven't read it since.

Ma mamma's back

And she's making me try on clothes and chuck out clothes and all this clothes cleaning is giving me the sniffles, as in the sniffling-need-antihistamine way, not the 'sniff sniff sob sob' way.

Well got some new clothes from HK:
- white skirt (lovely one) which I'll wear to Alex's engagement party. Ooh gotta rsvp, I'll rsvp tomorrow morning.
- also all those damn black cardigans I kept losing in the city, I now have replacements! Yays!! Now I have 2 new ones to lose! I mean try to keep my eye and hands on.
- velvet dark brown skirt, very nice feeling *rubs face against it*
- 2 light long sleeved tops to wear as pj tops, since you know, I don't wear pj bottoms. Yes I like the feeling of the electric blanket frying my leg hairs off instead, saves me the epilating.
- 2 pieces of netting aka shawls

My Christmas present from my parents was a big gold velvet covered, sequinned box with Crabtree and Evelyn stuff. My favourite Lily of the Valley, mmmm... *takes big whiff*. In it comes, bath and shower gel, body lotion, Lily scented candle, a little velvet jewellery purse, a large brooch with green, white and yellow crystals and a bigger bag to hold soaps and lotion and such.
Oh and a pen. Small pen, length of my thumb.

But then again I got some dodgy clothes:
- a very, very, very retro, retro, retro woollen school uniform blue jumper - gahh!!
- some singlet tops which my mum will keep coz, dude, my chest ain't that small. Haha, that reads funny.

Well as people know, Chinese New Year is coming up. Seems like we're staying at home for din-din. Thank God! Gotta go buy the traditional food on Friday, ooh Btown's gonna be busy.

Also, my mum's finally gonna have some Christmas pudding (it was in the fridge and has survived) tomorrow night. I just made a fresh batch of brandy sauce tonight. Mmm... funnily enough, or maybe more worryingly, I spooned some sauce for my mum to try and she said it was really strong of brandy, but I couldn't taste any, it was just all sweet to me...

...

Also mum bought back a load of chocolates, gourmet chocolates which really are very nice. But still I prefer Max Brenner. ;) But still Casa Fondata (I think it's called) are very, very nice. And expensive, and nice.

Also went to Parra today to do some shopping
- brown dress - I like, I like
- olivey green top
- pink top to go with my new white skirt
- black evening bag

This post reads very materialistically

Anyway, people who are up for Valentine's as posted on Spampage, please respond soon coz, really, the credit card really does expire in February.

Gershwin's World

So even though there were only 4 of us, I had a great time. ;) Discussed some stuff, laughed a lot, made a number of semi-dirty jokes. I got slapped around by Loz a lot coz I kept making waggling eyebrows and smirks and saying words like 'your crack' and 'whip'. Hehehehe.

So I got there later than wanted, and pushed on by Angi by threats on phone calls. Very scary, by the way. And you and Tim were so lovely and kind to bags the spot for us. Really, it was very, very nice. *bows and bows down* So we had for dinner, bratwurst und weisswurst with mustard, sauerkraut und tomato sauce. Mmmm... and Angi had corn on cob... mmmm... yuuuum... and also had salsa/guac dip with crackers and twists. As well as frozen chocolate bananas, Baileys chocolate muffins (although you really couldn't taste the Baileys ;p), drank some West Coast cooler, Brekky juice, coke, and Loz and I had some Shiraz Cabernet.

We really should do this more, I love getting together, relaxing, eating food, chatting, laughing, do it as much as possible before we eventually split ways. I'm sorry, but it's reality. It's really a miracle we still get together 4 years after highschool. Also, photos from tonight, well let's say that Angi has the majority. Majority of them bad as well and as soon as I get my hands on that camera *slices throat with finger* they are going bye-bye.

Current background noise: my brother watching that summer special Video Hits best song from the past 15 years, currently Ricky Martin - Cup of Life - 1998
Current craving: cold water

Recent purchases:
- 2 pairs of thigh high black fishnets - should arrive next week
- 2 black suspender belts - yea baby
- 2 dresses: black and brown - one specifically for the 21st I'm going to
- 1 dress from ebay, grey and back with lace - should arrive Monday
- bloody gorgeous corset top - red and black fabric, brocade - goth/punk brand TrippNYC - I absolutely, absolutely love it. Even my brother loves it?!

BTW Ang, next time I pop over, I'll bring an absolutely delicious steamed treacle sponge and butterscotch sauce for your 100 stars. One of my favourite desserts. ;) And I'll nick your fascinator ;)

I'm an RN! Good God, I'm an RN...

So I registered at uni on Tuesday, spent the entire day of 0915 til 1500 at uni, waiting, waiting, waiting. *Argh* I got there at 0915 and got handed the ticket number 69, people were there at 0800 and got the early 10s, and registration doesn't start til 0930. So now I have a certificate that says I'm an RN under NSW and I need to get meeself a frame. Also I paid extra for a badge that says I'm an RN under the NSW board. Meh.

So, my brother went to Vic's Basement on Wednesday and bought 2 frypans. Unfortunately, they don't have lids so I'd have to use something else for polenta. *Be warned people, polenta spits and splutters and it hurts, always keep polenta covered.

And while he was there, I cut myself accidently in the kitchen. How I did it, you ask?? Well... *looking at the floor ashamedly* you know you get those cordial bottles and they've got the metal caps... *drawing circles on the floor with her toes* well, the metal cap and the ring were fused together... *uh huh* so I used a knife to loosen it... *nodding* and I loosened two sides... but the knife slipped when I was doing another side but it dug into my left index finger instead... *...* So I started bleeding quite nicely so I washed the blood off, put pressure on it, called my brother in which he didn't answer so when he called back, I was already dressed and ready to go to the medical centre. So I walked out to the medical centre, asked the receptionist to boost me up a bit, and the doc came and looked at my cut and waited a bit to cover it up. Luckily didn't need stitches so just Steristrips to keep the skin together and a Primapore over the top. And damn baby, my skin's itchy underneath. Steristrips come off next Wednesday and I'll put an Opsite over the top if it comes off earlier. *sigh* Second day I'm an RN and I'm my first patient. *sigh*

So, for those who've read the survey, you know I'm reading Jane Austen's Guide to Dating, well in fact I've stopped reading it. In fact I can't get past the introduction, it's too painful. I can't, I can't, I can't. It's a self-help book to dating and it makes me nauseous reading it. So if anyone asks if I read it, I have to say the truth and say "Yes, I've read the introduction and the contents, oh yes and did the quiz."

Oh yes, for the 20s party I'll be going to next month. Does anyone know where to get good cocktail hats/fascinators a la Glebe Markets, meh stuff it, I'll force you Lilliputians out with me, that is if the stall is still there.

Need to buy:
- 2 frypans - at Peter's of Kensington next week

1. Alias: minerva_qm
2. Age: 20
3. Current location: In my room, at my laptop, bored outta my mind, oh wait it's just a location question.
4. Current background noise: my teeny fan on the highest power it has, go little fan, go, you can do it... and Green Day - Hitchin' a ride
5. Concurrent webpage: HP fanfic
6. What time did you wake up today? Yikes, sometime around 1200. Need to wake up at a reasonable hour to set myself back into a normal sleep schedule.
7. Your first thoughts upon waking up? "Dehydrated, hot, blankets too hot *kicks blankets hot* not bothered pulling down chemise *pulls blanket over waist again* gaahhh... too hot"
8. Do you shower daily? Yes
9. The shoes you wore today: My reefs, so comfy I love them, even though I've got eh unfortunate thong tan... then I changed my mind and wore my Playboys ;)
10. When was the last time you went and bought underwear for yourself? Not too long ago actually, just the beginning of December, went and bought a strapless black bra, and also went to the sales at Sydney Showgrounds, bought 3 bras there. And I like all of them, it's a first I tell you.
11. Do you have holes in your underwear? (answer honestly) Yes, yes I do, I swear I'm chucking them away though... I also have an abundance of 16B bras at home which I don't wanna chuck away but since I'm a 16C, 16Bs are pretty pointless to me. Someone tell me what to do with them!!
12. Your favourite chocolate: Max Brenner dark chocolate powder with orchid oil. The Mexican chocolate's not bad either. Lindt dark cocoa 60% chocolate balls.
13. Your perfect pizza: Woodfire oven tandoori chicken pizza with natural yoghurt. And Mario's bruschetta pizza.
14. Your perfect dessert: Oooh... herrenbecher in any season is lovely. That is brandied sour cherries with vanilla icecream and whipped cream. Steamed treacle sponge with butterscotch sauce is absolutely delicious as well! If anyone wants a try, I can make one at a weekend getaway. ;)
15. Your favourite cocktail/drink: Bombay Sapphire G&T, I'm currently going through a cordial phase, specifically Cascade blackcurrant cordial. I think it's coz of the temperature and I need something to sweeten my tongue. But then again, it's so severely diluted 1:12...
16. Your bedtime: whenever I want, lately it's been sometime after the cock crows so around 0400 (I kid you not, one day I'm gonna go across the street and murder that rooster)
17. What do you listen to to relax? Hmmm... Kate Rusby is great relaxing music imho. Loreena McKennitt for relaxing and studying, specifically the The Mask & the Mirror and The Book of Secrets albums. Also Lady sings the blues or some Classical Piano.
18. Any consumables while relaxing? Yea baby, in winter a large bowl of tea, in summer a large coke glass of iced water or my current phase, severely diluted cordial. It must be my Chinese-catered tastebuds, Indian and Leb sweets are much too sweet for me, and I find Thai food sickeningly sweet. So I guess that's why I prefer water to cordial.
19. What books are you reading currently? LWW, Jane Austen's Guide to Dating, Quechua phrasebook, Mists of Avalon (I know, I know). LP WF Portugal.
20. How many more books do you plan on reading for the coming year? Hehe, way too many. I need to finish: Year of Wonders, POTO, Dracula, The Wild Reel, The Sultan's Harem, Inventing Memory (from Leach), Screwtape letters, Eragon and Ancestors of Avalon (a severe detraction from the genius of Marion Zimmer Bradley I must say). And I have to start The Tree of life, Jin-Shei and many many more. You know, it's somewhat good that my obssession with books right now is pretty much 50% with cookbooks. If it was more than 30% historical fantasy and 20% quirky stuff, my whole room would be even more of a fire hazard.
21. What languages would you like to learn? Spanish and Arabic (work related but Spanish I've always loved), French (so I can pronounce it correctly, and also understand the menus in Manners for Women), Welsh (I find it amazing people can survive on such a lack of vowels), Hindi (Bollywood films!!)
22. Wanna go to Max Brenner? Yes, yes I do. Well maybe not too soon.
23. Have any current unhealthy obssessions? I don't think obssessions are unhealthy unless they: emotionally, socially, physically or financially harm you. You see reading HP fanfic does not harm me in any way, except for my laptop overheating coz it's on too long. Well, it's always on too long anyway, because I'm reading something or another...
24. Any healthy obssessions?? Yes, reading fanfic. Mostly HP now, occasionally POTO but I'm completely off Stargate... because the main shipping couple has got together and the UST is now ST? So it's not that much fun to read it now. Also I'm not obssessed with Stargate Atlantis so I haven't read any of SGA's fanfic.
25. Do you want to get married... ever? I'm sure somewhere deep inside me, I'll be craving my Russian-mail-order-husband, but currently no. Should I be feeling my biological clock ticking away?? I mean, I know I look around 22/23 and I act supposedbly 22/23 around work, but I am only 20. Oh yes, the Russian mail order husband thing is an extremely old joke. As I was introduced to feminism and equality in years 7, 8 and 9, I always thought "Why are there Russian-mail-order brides?? Why can't there be Russian-mail-order-husbands?? It's not fair! That's it, I'm gonna get a Russian-mail-order-husband." So it's not that I'm desperate to get married, I'm just expressing my view on equality. ;)
26. Do you like children? I eat children for breakfast. Well you never know, if God places a husband in my life and that husband is apparently fertile... accidents happen. ;) It's still a C-section if any, dude, I like my hips where it is. Also there's worse stuff than just rippage though *cover your eyes if you don't wanna read this* with the amount of kids women could have, and with age, you never know, your genitals could turn out looking like a Picasso ;P ;P ;P
27. What kind of living arrangements do you want in the future? Not in the city, a bit further out than the 'burbs somewhere. A bungalow with disabled access and appropriate room sizes. I'm just thinking of the future. We're all gonna get old and there's no way in hell you're gonna put a nurse into a nursing home, so I wanna live at home with the proper spaces, equipment etc. It's even more realistic to me after doing this degree and just looking after people who are restricted in some way. And grandma's also in a wheelchair.
28. Where would you most like to visit? Nepal and India is pretty high on my list. Morrocco, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, France (not during riot time), Italy, Germany and Austria. Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Hebrides, well the Islands, I wouldn't mind popping down to Minack Theatre for a show ;) South America again and Central America, but this time with Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico.
29. Goals for the future: stay in as many countries and get to know the people as well. Not the drive-thru countries, as in stay for at least a month per country, even if it is Liechtenstein. Ok well maybe not Liechtenstein.
30. New Year's resolutions? Get through Honours without kicking myself up the arse. Nor lose my clinical skills.

You know I'm a lot more burnt than I thought I was...

My face is red, my shoulders, arms, the curve of my shirt on the front AND the back. BUT, my back, my back, the part where my hair convered my back is still white dammit, dammit, dammit. So now it looks like I was wearing a weird shaped halter neck. *grumble*

So, today was the Botanical Gardens picnic. We started at 1300 after walking for a little shady spot. Loz made some absolutely decadent and deadly dark chocolate and caramel slices *drools* and some fresh and myummy sushi. And also brought a great picnic pack provided by zee good people at Breakfast Point. I brought in some grilled eggplant, zucchini, carrot sticks, tomatoes, bread, spinach empanadas and a whole, large uneaten cucumber. And cheese, we forgot the cheese!! Ah well, more for me. ;) Also some sangiovese, remind me not to buy that Rosemount 2004. Karen brought in lotsa juice ;) after trampling her way to a supermarket (you see, she doesn't go much), Kat brought in a delicious fruit salad which we also put in zee juice to make some punch. Cat bought a roast chicken which consequently got covered in ants (Leach would've probably eaten that half t'were it not ant-infested) and Viv brought in lemonade and breakfast juice.
I had great fun today guys, thank you all for turning up, and especially Loz coz we see her so much less than we want to! ;) There was much chatter, much laughing and much observing of one-legged pigeons. There was also discussion of Gerringong and no Gerringong. More news of that on Spampage.

So after, Loz and Viv headed home, after much bag-swapping, wallet-handling, and well-meaned hugs ;) We met up with Karl, or is it Carl?? And took a bus to Chinatown, where we walked around for awhile until we settled for Japanese noodles for dinner. Mmmm... zaru soba... And zen we headed on home after running for zee train. I took a taxi home *mumbles stupid cityrail* I swear, they are gonna drive me up the wall this month.

So I gotta call LPL hospital tomorrow morning and ask if Phil's there to be my referee and if it is possible, I gotta take the bus to Cabra, then the train to LPL. *grumbles*
