About the Looking For and Finding of Love

So after dinner at Menya noodles in Chinatown, Cat had a teriyaki chicken set, and I had a Menya ramen, mmmm... yum! We made our way to Oxford street. Were discussing Cat's morning beastliness ;) and the woman sitting on the bus next to us was also going to the German film festival as well :)
Then we bought tix and waited past time for Michelle G (from my church to get there). Eeeeep, I gave her the wrong directions to Paddington Town Hall and she ended up back at Liverpool St and Hyde Park. But luckily I bought an extra ticket after getting worried it'd sell out and made it in time for the short film (Anophtalmus) and the full movie Vom Suchen und Finden der Liebe.

Some slightly creepy bits like Hermaphrodite, quite funny imho, pokes at the romance/love genre and definitely well use of the overtly tragic music of Orpheus and Eurydice. I enjoy watching Moritz Bleibtreu and Alexandria Maria Lara. The lyrics of the songs were making my slightly queasy, I mean come on "You make my heart pound / You make my knees shake / Sauerkraut on my chin (well that wasn't really a lyric)".
But I liked the reality mixed in with the myth. No matter how much you love a person, you can always find a fault, whether they want you to be the same when you change (because life is not static and one must always allow for change). Also even if you love a person, it's not solely the personality, but there has to be something physical you're attracted to, for example "the best tush in the world". Also the little things, the quarrels that come between people, not the big stuff but the little stuff. Quite funny how the couple Theo and Anke trying to schedule a time in their busy and hectic lives to have sex, and how it would traumatise their son if they were caught, I have to say, that scene reminded me of Gwen Harwood's The Glass Jar

"The bedroom where his comforter lay in his rival's fast embrace and faithless would not turn her face from the gross violence done to her. Love's proud executants played from a score no child could read or realise.."

So then after the movie, we walked back to Max Brenner's and I had a Mexican Spicy Chocolate, Cat had a Venezuelan Dark Chocolate and Michelle had an Italian milk chocolate and shared a Chocolate, marshmallow and banana pizza. Oh my gooooooodness... sooooo luscious... it's a pizza base, absolutely covered in melted milk chocolate, dotted with sliced bananas and little white and pink marshmallows, melted. Gaaaaaahhhh... Leachypoo you will looooove it. We couldn't finish it at all, left 3 slices on the pizza plate. Soooooo luscious, was feeling queasy when we left. Ooooooh baby.

So the latest news...

Went to Westmead to meet up with my supervisors this morning, as well as the absent CNC and cardiologists. After speaking to the cardiologist, my original proposal has been blown back and now instead of doing some more so pioneering work, I am now doing a reproduction study, dammit. I was really looking forward to doing the previous one. So the new one is 'Comparison of psychosocial issues in recipients of pacemakers and ICDs of 3 years'. Dammit, I really, really was looking forward to doing the previous one. I already know the results of this study. Depression, anxiety and stress.

Church tonight was good, well save me drifting off in my lack-of-sleep-i-ness, 3 hours. 3 blimmin' hours. Gaaahhhh... and now it's 0220 and I'm wide awake. Dammit. So yea, 1 Corinthians, I have to say, it's much better reading it in context, much more understandable from when we read it back in highschool.

You know how I'm anal retentive about people being compliant with their medication. I've had a yelling session at my dad for not taking his Zocor. I swear, he went to another doctor in HK who suggested him to stop taking Zocor and try nutritional supplements, what stupid frick of a doctor would tell someone that when once you take Zocor, you take it for the rest of your life.
So before, my dad had a controlled blood cholesterol level of 4.3, then after stopping Zocor, it shot up to 6.4. Stupid idiot, he said "He's a doctor! (in the tone of you can trust anyone who says they're a Dr. but NOT his GP)"
I yelled back, "Is there any evidence for nutritional supplements being better than Zocor?!" "Is there any clinical evidence?!" "Grandma had a stroke, Grandpa had a stroke, what the hell do you think you could get if you don't stay on your medication?!" "Do you want a stroke as well?! You're doubly susceptible to strokes coz of your parents." Then I shouted at him to go to his GP and get a new prescription for Zocor. He's now booked in for a blood chol test Wednesday morning. I swear, my parents are so up and eager to try complementary therapies rather than sticking to something that works, and they've been doing that ever since I was 7 years old.

Anyways,

So can people make it to the German Film Festival of Friday? I'm all up for dinner as well, since it starts at 2100. :) Yes, I know, tape Nerds FC.

Sunday: my Auntie Eppie is coming to Sydney for our graduations. And my mum volunteered my bed and room to her. Yea right, I don't think so mate, I work late at night (obviously). I ain't sacrificing my bed and electric blanket and crashing on the couch for a week. My back hurts enough normally as it is. But it's unbelievable, she's a 50 y.o. woman, and she can't sleep alone in a hotel (Rydges 2 min drive down the road). As in CAN'T sleep alone. She's scared of sleeping alone, she Needs to sleep with other people in the house. Oh... My... Gooodness... are you kidding me?? A 50 y.o. woman??? You're kidding right?? No I'm not. So my brother's gonna crash on the couch and sacrifice his back for a week.

Monday: pick up mum; dental appointment at 1215 to see if I should remove the wisdom tooth. Annoyingly enough it doesn't hurt anymore, because it's fully crowned and out. Ah well, if it does get removed, I'll have some great graduation photos.

Lordy I am such a cow

I just got back from the Colloquium, got home at 1820, was half dressed after a shower and in the kitchen making dinner (I was grumpy and felt my sugar running low, grumpy grumpy).
And a banging at the door, and I can't ignore it can I?? Stalked into the living room, stood there listening to a guy prattle on about Mission Australia and how these kids (with your money) could have normal lives like you and me, become a lawyer *snort*, doctor *Snort*, nurse *SNORT*. I said to him "Make it quick." (not in a good mood). I went to grab my wallet just so he'd go away, and then he asked me "Didn't have a good day?" Let's see, I'm in my Nepali skirt (which means I wanna sleep), I'm wearing my brother's business shirt coz I had to get the door, my sugar's running low, I'm tired, I'm stressed and damn worried about Hons, how the blimmin' hell do you think I feel??!!
So the perpetually honest Pun answers "No I didn't have a good day." Guy looked kinda shocked, well buddy I've got the stove on high and water boiling, I'm wearing my brother's shirt, I'm waiting for a phone call, I'm not in the mood for banalities. There's more to type how rude I was but here's some of the lines Pun used today:
"Make it quick."
"Good for you." (sarcastic)
"Try next door."

ANYWAYS

Day 1 of the Colloquium was good, heard some good studies that I'm looking forward to reading about later. More so to 'The management of dyspnoea with nebulised frusemide'. It's strange how the first thing I thought about was the increased amount of frusemide could cause hypokalaemia, and hence dangerous arryhthmias, but that doesn't seem to be a concern to the researcher. Because of the action of the frusemide nebs on the lungs and the lack of evidence in relation to diuresis. It'll be a very, very interesting paper to read. Also I love free food. ;)

I've got staff approval for my proposed study and I have to meet up with my supervisors and the CNC on Monday at Westmead.
Got an extension for my assessment 1 *phew*

But more importantly I think I misread my other subject outline, learning contract and more proposed written work. Crruuuuuddddd... gotta reread it again, expecting a phone call from another Hons student tonight.

LEACHYPOO:
You know I love you. Very, very, very, very much... much.

This week's activities

Tuesday: make a money order for latest ebay purchase, $43 all up. Finish off Part A of assessment. Work out what's for dinner tomorrow. Hmmm... feeling hungry now that I think about it, had a tiny portion of fish for dinner, and some cheese, crackers and grapes at church. Ok really hungry now. Oh and email supervisor about pending research.

Wednesday: start writing Part B of assessment.

Thursday: Autumn Research Colloquium at Parra campus, all day functions, gaaahhh...

Friday: as above, plus taping Nerds FC for Angi

Saturday: Dad's back... attempting to move us out of our home, also frustrating me. Also gaahhhh... must stay calm. I'm gonna need to vent some for the next month, everytime one or both of my parents come back, there's always a big argument. Must have missed out on our teenage years so they're catching up now. Oooh, restaurant dinner on Saturday though. We're never bothered cooking when a parent comes back so we always have either Jap or... Jap. Or that Macau place...

Sunday: calming down. Finishing assessment in peace.

Monday: buy SMH. Finishing assessment in peace. Breathe, breathe. YABS.

Currently reading HP fic (Full House) up on sidebar. Will possibly put some currently reading fics (or finished ones) up. Maybe.

There's nothing wrong with the Mortal Kombat soundtracks

I've got MK and MK: Annihilation. I'm telling you, eclectic musical tastes. I used to listen to it MK:A to go to sleep (strange yes). And I really love 3 specific songs on the MK soundtrack, I've put it on repeat and played it for the past few days. It reminds me of early 90s techno, hard metal music and jumping up and down, hands in the air, pumping *cough* music :D

So went to the NSW art gallery tonight, Art After Hours, for B's birthday kinda. Went to see the Archibald paint and photographic selections and had dinner there as well. Got to vote in the People's Choice Archibald, I chose the one with Norman Gunston as the subject. No real reason for it, just liked the portrait.
Had for dinner, mushroom, bacon and tatsoi salad; pasta salad and a cheese plate. B had a glass of pinot noir and Mish and I a glass of semillon sav blanc. It was very nice actually, I might look for the wine now, actually I think I remember seeing it in the copy of Wine Gourmet Traveller.

Then came back to my house for orange juice and steamed treacle pud with butterscotch sauce. Decided not to make it for Monday's YABS. I don't think it's a big group dessert, it's more so a cozy-sit-down-on-the-couch-eating-warmed-pud-drenched-in-butterscotch-sauce-in-front-of-a-log-fire dessert. I think I'll try doubling or making 1.5 batches of the recommended, it always sinks down and is quite small, good for no more than 6 people.

Shopping list:
- SR flour
- light brown sugar
- OJ??

Possible desserts for Monday:
- fruits perhaps, oooh there's raspberries at home, no no that's mine
- little creme brulees
- Eton Mess? Hmmm... or cranachan? Nah, I'll make cranachan for myself, oooh with the raspberries
It's a shame I don't actually eat dessert. Actually tis a good thing.

Got my blood results back today [EDIT]

Yays! I am barely, absolutely barely immune to Hep B, which means no more boosters, yays!! For Karen's reference: Hep B surface Ab 17IU/L :P
I am however not immune to Hep A, I have absolutely no antibodies for that, I have also had varicella detected (chickenpox) and negative for HIV. Full blood count normal, renal function's good but my bicarbonate's lower but nothing of concern. Same for my LFTs.

Well if I do go to HK, it'll be Hep A vaccination and typhoid (optional). You know, I never even thought about having typhoid for HK. Understandable now actually. So sometime in June, gotta go and vaccinate.

Also was considering the pill again. *sighs* I'll have to think about it and see if I really do care that much. But I'm not getting married, no major problems with acne (at least that I can see, do I have acne? I think my skin's considerably clear [I bet ya I'm gonna get a huge pimple after I publish this]), no severe period pain (therefore no endometriosis and the U/S I had in year 12 shows I have no visible ovarian cysts). I'll have to think about it and see. Speaking about that I should email Wong.

I'll see you ladies tomorrow at snaps. Note to self: bring camera.

[EDIT]
Karen's graduation photos up now. Click on My photos on sidebar, otherwise I should have emailed them out. Congrats Karen!! :)
Arrrghh... my feet, blisters... painful... ouchy.

Please! Please! Please! Please!!!

Can I go to Phantom please please please????
I've literally got tears in my eyes, please oh please can I go to POTO in July? My first 4 paychecks will go to my parents if I do, that's at least A$2400. Oh please, please, please. A graduation present? Yes, it can be a graduation present, I don't want jewellery, I don't want flowers, I don't want anything but a ticket to POTO in July, oh please, please, please... I am in tears (I'm also listening to Past the Point of No Return) *bursts out loud*

I am willing to sign a contract saying that half of my weekly salary will go to pay back my parents 'til fully paid. That'll be what, $400 a week, say the whole trip will cost: A$1200 for return airfare, HK$600 a night in a hotel for 5 days, HK$790 for the POTO ticket. Octopus card, expenses HK$700. Say A$2000, I can get that paid back in 5 weeks yea yea! Oh please, please, please!!

*crying*

Anyone wanna do afternoon tea or coffee and cake after Karen's graduation snaps?
