I think I've lost my mind...

Anyways, I had a great 2 weeks at cardiothoracic, I really wish I could have another 2 weeks there but CCU would be good too. At least for learning, I suspect the monitoring will drive me nuts. And during my shifts for the past 2 weeks, there was only 2 MET (medical emergency team) calls, and one of them wasn't my patient. Yays! But bad for them really. And some lovely patients, one very stubborn one warmed to me and I had very good care with him. And a couple of other ones I'd built a good rapport with. *sigh* You never know, if they crash, it's pretty likely I'll see them in CCU.

So, I'm making my Christmas pudding now, so there's currants, sultanas, raisins, dried apricots, mixed peel and this year's change of dried figs. And instead of using VSOP I've used VS. So you know, I won't be, you know, "wasting" a bottle of cognac. Although I never believe it's wasting if you eat it all. I hope Felix isn't allergic to any of the ingredients, is he?
If I can get the Lilyfiled pud done by Saturday night, I will endeavour to force Angi to come pick it up before Friday ;) Although, yes it is highly unlikely.

Humm... new details for HP & GOF on sidebar...

And yes I have to discuss HP. So the new time's 1930. There's still the dresscode, and early dinner at Lilyfield? If it's still offered *pathetic puppy dog eyes* But you know, if there's Christmas pud in there as well, I'm afraid you guys will have to make ze infamous Croaker brandy cream sauce with the pud, and of course double cream. ;)
And if you don't mind, I offered early dinner at Lilyfield to Josh. Sorry guys, I know, I know, I mean it, I know. But the details about that isn't sorted out yet. Or whether it will happen at all. So no worries about it and I'll sort it out later. So Josh, if you're reading this, or you know, my stalkers out there, I'll email you later. Or sms. I'll stop ranting now.

*cough*

Met up with Wong and Leach today, at Wong's neighbours place. Very interesting kid Julian, very interesting. ;) And WONG BROKE HER BOARD, or the fin, the shame woman, the shame, it didn't even last a year!! Ah well, it's not like you'll be using it over the holidays anyway.
So I'm lending my 70L backpack to Wong for America and also lent Leach my LP Britain, needs to be updated though. So I hope that Wong won't destroy my backpack, I mean I have memories with it, I had to cut off my tags which spelt Sidney Aerolineas Argentinas and my other one that said Bolivian Airlines *sigh* So, it's quite well-worn considering it survived me and various temperatures and climates, so it's doing very well.
And the LP Britain book did not survive me, as to the Extra strength binding that fell apart some time in December of 2002. So I transpore-ed the cover back on so hopefully it'll at least last the flights.

I'm gonna miss you guys so much. Be healthy, stay safe and keep in contact. Or you know, drink the recommended weekly alcohol intake. Except for Leach, drink more! You're legal now in Britain, go to pubs, get hooked on whiskey, bring me back Schloer!! And Wong, eat waffles, eat lots of waffles, with maple syrup. Mmmm... maple syrup... Love you guys very much! *hugs and squeezes both of you*

Currently consuming: glass of Wolf Blass Heritage release 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon - it's strange coz anyone who knows the wines I drink, know that I can't stand Cab Sav, but the ones we have at home are lovely. But they cost $40 a bottle, so I suspect I've been trying cheap crap Cab Sav and I'm finally getting good Cab Sav.

Recent purchases:
- black top
- Little Britain season 2 - I absolutely love this show!

I put in my first NGT today! yays!

NGT is nasogastric tube. I've been needing to put one in for ages. Unfortunately the first time I put it in, the tube had coiled in the throat, I think. Radiology had to pull it out. But but the second time, it got in fine, as evidenced by an xray showing the tube in the stomach. Yays! Now I need to do an IDC (indwelling catheter) to build up more skills.

You know, I'm really enjoying cardiothoracic, it's a shame I'll be going to CCU next week. I really am enjoying it, the running around, getting used to ward routine, great staff. Hummm... 'pparently CCU is monitoring and slower than cardiothoracic. I'm guessing my feet will hurt more next week coz I'd be standing around for 8 and a 1/2 hours a day. Well let's see how it goes.

My brother dared me to buy goat's milk and drink it. The pasteurised one, truly it's not too bad, really. It's colour is whiter than cow's milk, and the taste isn't as lingering. I think it tastes better than bovine skim milk. Not bad at all really, not bad. It's expensive though, $3.37 a litre at Coles.

Oh oh can Cat and Angi, pretty pretty please buy the tix for HP. Since it's next Friday, gotta get in soon. I hate it when you turn up at a cinema and all the tix are sold out. Yay for Tim coming! Hehe swishy cloak, was watching HP & PS on and off, hehe Sean Biggerstaff, hehehe *giggles* ;)

Current background noise: nil really, but there is faint Food Lovers' Guide to Australia
Current mood: happy, but very very tired feet
Concurrent webpage: Alicia's usual rant
Currently eating: lemon custard chocolate crossaint - sooooo good, but soooo expensive, but sooooo good...

Recent purchases:
- 3 tank tops: brown, pink and purple
- big black bag - coz the cruddy piece of garbage I bought less than 2 months ago has broke on me. Finally. Just like it did 2 days after I bought it. Meh, I guess that's what happens when you buy a $10 bag.

One quarter of the month gone (edit)

So my first week was good. Learnt more than I thought I would. Getting into the routine is more enjoyable than being facilitated. Staff kept asking us
"Where's your facilitator?"
"We don't have any."
"Why?" they'd ask.
"We're just so bloody good." I'd answer.
So out of all the clinicals over the past 3 years, this week (so far) was the best. Even though I am craving a foot massage *wink wink*

So, I need to go shopping for next week's breakfast. I've got one afternoon shift on Thursday so maybe I should buy something for dinner, meanwhile I've got that stir through pasta sauce so maybe just pasta for Thursday dinner.

Oh yea, how was Leach's Farewell party? Ate much fooood? Played much soccer? And what time does your plane leave woman??

Oh yes, can anyone else other than Angi, Cat and I make it for HP on the 2nd? Coz we're needing to get advanced tix. So if you can come, please tell us soon.

Current craving: something for lunch perhaps. Had some roast beef, maybe something a bit more healthy for lunch eh?

Recent purchases:
- well I didn't buy it but my brother did, Elana Stone's debut album, In the Garden of Wild Things
- 2 white shirts for clinical. I tried on one I had bought from Colorado and decided it was much too low, and a bit too tight to wear at a hospital. So I went to Target and bought some more shirts. Much better now.

Need to buy;
- decent thermos for hot drinks at 0600 in morning
- ?blowtorch, I don't know, most of my kitchen shopping sprees are frivolous but this seems too frivolous

NOTE:
I will be making my infamous cognac-ed Christmas puddings very soon. I'll be soaking the fruits over a Thursday and Friday and steaming on the weekend. If Lilyfield wants a small pudding, like the one I made last year, please rsvp. I'm gonna be buying the ingredients today if possible. Although possibly without cognac so I'd have to go buy some brandy instead, my dad's forbade me to use it this year, coz we've only got Henessy XO, well I'm only making one large quantity and of course brandy sauce later but... maybe I can use the VSOP instead. And somehow promise my dad I'm not gonna use a whole 750ml bottle. ;)

First day of what's gonna be a loooong month.

*sigh* not bad today at all, arrived there early, found out another one of my friends Lata is gonna be there for the same time as me. Had a good preceptor today, very friendly and a new grad nurse. Will have a different one tomorrow though. Patients were nice, isn't it strange though? I get along better with the male patients than the female. Or maybe it's because there is a 1:10 ratio of females to males, that's probably the reason actually.

I'm enjoying a very large gin and tonic right now, with a slice of lime. Mmmmm... Gonna have ox tongue tonight... mmmmmm.... oxxx.... tonnggguuuee... And I'm currently experimenting with this reflexology (I don't believe in it) foot massage thingy. It's absolutely bizarre, it shoots vibrations up my calves from the soles of my feet and moves to my lower thigh. It keeps shocking me and feels absolutely bizarre. And before all the innuendo comes out, it just feels weird, in a non-dirty way :P

Found out my watch battery died this morning, so I had to wear my wristwatch today connected via a safety pin to my uniform. Went and replaced the battery at Westfields and got home at around 1730. Feet are killing me, barely sat down all day. *sigh*

Also that I won't be getting a saved placement at Liverpool for 2008. The head of New Grad program spoke to the Director of nursing and she said they don't keep spots for a year. And that I'd have to go through the Consortium again next year. Otherwise (the Head suggested this) that I just go straight for direct entry some time in June next year. *sigh* I have to bring in my declining letter tomorrow and on the nursecon website as well *sigh*.

You know, it's either the heat, the G&T or this bizarre shooting vibrations running up my calves making me really warm. I suspect it's the G&T ;)

Recent purchases:
- swishy skirt from Crossroads, I like it a lot

So does anyone know the song??

I swear, if I didn't study with my friend Nicole this morning, I never would've known any of the answers for the exam today. Also, es war nicht so schlect. Thank God for friends who force you to study.
It's funny though, we were you know, talking and quizzing each other, and me moaning that "I-am-going-to-run-John-over-with-a-car" and saying "I-am-so-gonna-fail-this-piece-of-crap" she said, "Well, at least we won't do as bad as them" (referring to a bunch of other students who we're JUST reading the lecture notes that afternoon) and she said, "We're in the top 10% of the year, if we do crap, everyone else will do s*** as well."
But you see, I don't see myself as smart, I don't see myself as intelligent or clever. I see myself as pretty average. I don't see myself as top 10%, do I just have a low self-esteem or am I being realistic? *sigh* Ok well yes I'm doing honours but yeaaa... I just don't see myself as smart. Sure I can remember some facts and string them together to work in practice but... I don't know, do I just have a low self-esteem??

Hehe, ok not as bad as Trees' exam, hehehe. But but I'm gonna complain because I can, also if I fail this subject, I don't graduate til 2008 and it won't look good for Honours ;)

Sooo... we were planning on going for Japanese tonight but the place was full up and booked when we got there. So instead we went to this Macanese style cafe, mmmm... nice food. My bro had Baked seafood rice with white wine sauce, dad had Baked tomatoey pork chop with rice. And I had a 4 course meal coz it was end of my exams and I was blimmin' hungry.
1. Minestrone soup with a slice of Italian bread and butter
2. Garden salad with dressing
3. Rare rump steak with black pepper sauce and absolutely delicious mash potato, steamed cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and green beans
4. Creme brulee with the crack crack mmmm... top
And of course, a cuppa milk tea

Sooooo full... gonna burst...

I need to prepare for cardiothoracic and CCU over the weekend. Oi ECGs, digoxin, frusemide, cardiac tamponade, a lot to read over this weekend. And of course the emergency drugs like adrenaline, amiodarone *sigh* I'll do it Sunday.

Uggh... terrible, terrible exam...

Terrible, just terrible.

I opened the booklet and my jaw dropped to the desk, mind you it wasn't a very high table. Then I had to slowly wind it back up and continued reading. Oi vey, if they didn't say fluoxetine was an SSRI, I would've got a question wrong. Sooo many medication questions dammit. I'm not a pharmacist!!!

Worst exam NC6, tomorrow though, will be needing 18.5 percent to pass, out of a 50. Shite, shite, shite. I swear I'm living in I-will-run-my-tutor-over-with-a-monster-truck land currently. And for the most vague of subjects, and possibly most useless.

Also for THE ESSENTIAL subject of the course NC7, our twit of a lecturer (whom I've been complaining about all semester) has had to have our assessments reviewed and is being double marked. Because of major discrepancies across campuses. Actually Hawkesbury, Parra and Campbelltown have had excellent marks averaging 35 out of 40. And us at Bankstown have recieved average of 22 out of 40. HUGE BLOODY DISCREPANCY there. I swear we should get this damn lecturer fired. Nobody likes her, she cannot teach, she cannot mark, she's indecisive and inconsistent with her marking and teaching and what she says for assesssments ARGH!!!
Do not like her...

Went to Kmart today, couldn't find Little Britain season 2, meh, will search over the weekend.

Recent purchases:
- Jamie's Italy - hardback cookbook
- 3 pairs of colourful ;) undies - but the funny thing is, it was apparently marked as 75c for 3 pairs. And with the 15% off, I paid 64c for 3 pairs of undies! Go me!

Need to buy
- Schweppes Indian tonic water
- Little Britain season 2 dvd - well maybe not need to buy

Sooooo boooooored... must study...

Had some wine, I swear only half a glass tonight. But feeling quite warm and not study-like. Uggggghhhh...

So concerning HP. Ok, since I'm organising, when can people go?? Thursday 1st is completely out. Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd is good for me. Otherwise, Friday 9th or Saturday 10th is also ideal. But not really for cloak swishing for obvious reasons.
Please comment available dates out of those 4. Sorry to put limitations on this but toooooo bad, I'm on clinical til the 9th and I gotta wake up at 0500 every morning so there's no way in hell it'll be the Thursday or Sunday. And what do people think of advanced tix??

Remember dress code: cloak or cape and optional clothing underneath. I will be wearing something underneath of course ;) Lol, I downloaded a scene from GOF, looks very funny, I think I'll be in giggles for the whole film, or at least part. You know me, laugh at death type. ;)

So please comment and give a preferable date.

EDIT: You know, for a minister, John Donne's poetry's a little racey. ;)

ELEGY XX
TO HIS MISTRESS GOING TO BED

COME, madam, come, all rest my powers defy ;
Until I labour, I in labour lie.
The foe ofttimes, having the foe in sight,
Is tired with standing, though he never fight.
Off with that girdle, like heaven's zone glittering,
But a far fairer world encompassing.
Unpin that spangled breast-plate, which you wear,
That th' eyes of busy fools may be stopp'd there.
Unlace yourself, for that harmonious chime
Tells me from you that now it is bed-time.
Off with that happy busk, which I envy,
That still can be, and still can stand so nigh.
Your gown going off such beauteous state reveals,
As when from flowery meads th' hill's shadow steals.
Off with your wiry coronet, and show
The hairy diadems which on you do grow.
Off with your hose and shoes ; then softly tread
In this love's hallow'd temple, this soft bed.
In such white robes heaven's angels used to be
Revealed to men ; thou, angel, bring'st with thee
A heaven-like Mahomet's paradise ; and though
Ill spirits walk in white, we easily know
By this these angels from an evil sprite ;
Those set our hairs, but these our flesh upright.
Licence my roving hands, and let them go
Before, behind, between, above, below.
O, my America, my Newfoundland,
My kingdom, safest when with one man mann'd,
My mine of precious stones, my empery ;
How am I blest in thus discovering thee !
To enter in these bonds, is to be free ;
Then, where my hand is set, my soul shall be.
Full nakedness ! All joys are due to thee ;
As souls unbodied, bodies unclothed must be
To taste whole joys. Gems which you women use
Are like Atlanta's ball cast in men's views ;
That, when a fool's eye lighteth on a gem,
His earthly soul might court that, not them.
Like pictures, or like books' gay coverings made
For laymen, are all women thus array'd.
Themselves are only mystic books, which we
—Whom their imputed grace will dignify—
Must see reveal'd. Then, since that I may know,
As liberally as to thy midwife show
Thyself ; cast all, yea, this white linen hence ;
There is no penance due to innocence :
To teach thee, I am naked first ; why then,
What needst thou have more covering than a man?

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is soooo pretty

I'm telling you ladies, black hair, blue eyes. Although he is a bit skinny eh? Meanwhile that's because I like guys with a bit more flesh on them. Well not unless you're Erik or Dracula, well then you'd be perfect ;) ;)

The Full Monty, or at the last part is on right now. Hehehe, I swear other than being one of the funniest movies I've seen, it's one of the damn scariest movies I've ever seen. I mean pastey English guys stripping *shivers up spine, as in bad shivers* Ugggghh... ugggggghhh... And it's so different to other roles Robert Carlyle's been in. Drunk bastard in Trainspotting, Hitler, Gunpowder, treason and plot. Very different.
But what I love about the movie, has to be the bank scene when they're almost subconsciously dancing to Hot Stuff. Hehehe, funny. Ah it makes me laugh. ;)

So, must email the head of Hons tomorrow and sort out this supervising crap. *sigh* and gotta study, must must study. Haven't been doing much. Eeep.

Uggghh... soooo... tired...

But it was soooo good seeing you all (or the people who were there) tonight!

We met up at Dendy, hehe, after I hung about Fish records a bit. Then headed down to Ice + Slice for dinner. Had Bombay Delight, Napolitana and Margherita and garlic bread. Then Angi and Tim shared a Bounty, Cat had a strawberry gelato and I had a Scotch coffee. And of course, we all had various drinks, let's see, Tim had peach nectar, Trees had water, Karen had a Go Mango, Angi and Lena both had Entusiams, Cat had an apple juice and I had an iced lemon tea, after the waiter went for a quest for homemade limonata, but came up with none.

Then Trees left us, she did I say she did. And then we went in for Howl's. AND WONG JOINED US AFTER 10MIN TIME. So Trees, you missed out on seeing Wong!

Howl's: was good, was very good. I like him better with black hair ;) But you know my thing for black hair, blue eyes, six pack (of Coronas). Oooh and broad shoulders, I love those broad shoulders... mmmm... mmm... ;) Yes I don't like guys with blonde hair and blue eyes :P
I'm still a bit confused over the end with Madam Suliman, how she could call off the war so easily, and why, why oh why would anyone cause a war for the sake of one person. And all the magic behind it, I think I have to watch it again to understand it.
But I swear, this must be the only Miyazaki film where the 2 leads kiss, I swear, I've watched all of the Studio Ghibli films and I swear, if I have to hold a marathon, this is the only one where 2 leads kiss. Must be the branching out into the western audience. Meanwhile in comparison to stuff such as Ninja Scroll and Chobits, tis very tame. But still, I love the innocence of Miyazaki films, it reminds me a lot of childhood and simpler times. And there is that certain 'feel' of Miyazaki, not just the music, and the 2D of the art, the kind of adventure and softness of it.
Fav. scene: Hehe, it'd have to be vain hair colour changing to the towel-droppng scene. Hehehe funny ;) Although Sophie and the Witch of the Wastes trudging up the stairs was hilarious!
Everybody I want favourite scenes

Then after, Karen had a macchiato, Wong, Angi and I had bowls of chai latte and we all pretty much shared some Mortal Sin, with ice cream. Mmmm... good. Then took the train home and dropped Wong and Karen off.
I got home around 0135. Very sleepy, but best to post while fresh I believe.

I'm gonna miss Wong and Leach so much when they leave *virtual hugs* Like not kidding, I know, I know, I usually pretend to vomit at sentimentality but I'm gonna miss bantering on and eating and doing stuff with you two over the summer (and autumn and beginning of winter). Really, I'll miss you guys lots.

Things to do:
- study for exams, then for clinical
- sleep
- get Kate Rusby cd off Trees
- get Bride Stripped Bare off Lena

I got Liverpool!!! *jumps up and down clapping*

Yays!!!! Now I just have to send the paperwork in to defer til 2007. Yays! And Karen got RPA! Yays!!!
However I need to talk to the head of BN(Hons) program about research areas and supervisors. Great. I have to send a statement into the uni about it. The joy of my blimmin' life. But, getting into Liverpool has only just, not made me disappointed in having to type a statement, only just.

Yays!!

Sorry Cat, there were no toffee apples anywhere, I couldn't find any. Would you like something else instead? Perhaps a little jar of brandied cherries?? ;) ;) Oh did you get sick from my food btw? Coz if so, I can't give you any in case of toxins and bad preserving.
If so, I can bring a little jar in on Friday. RSVP asap. Excellent with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream btw. Very brandied, as you know ;)

Study day was good today methought, chatted a lot, ate a lot, chatted a lot, ate some more, listened to some music. So we had cotelli with homemade bolognese, Alex's excellent potato salad (mmmm... good), Turkish bread and homemade curry puffs, and water and lime cordial. And guava nectar and Chinese sponge cake. Yum! I swear, medieval ain't that nad, neither is country, eh Cat? Anyways, the medieval music was by Mediaeval Baebes, yes actually spelt that way *rolls eyes*. But tis good, I swears!

Oh yes Trees, I left half a bottle of Nestea Lemon tea in your fridge, feel free to tip it out and recycle the bottle, please. And could you please bring the Kate Rusby CD I left in your laptop on Friday? And the DPDO 2cd version is yours ;) hehehehe.

I got in Liverpool!!! Yays!! *jumps up but doesn't reach very far*

And thank you for the 'let's move in together' but anyone who does has either suicidal ideations or is completely oblivious to my personality. Like you guys know, I wouldn't be the greatest person to live with. You'll always have food in the fridge yes, but a clean kitchen may be inevitable. ;P

Oh why why why, everytime I plan to be in Newtown at night, Elana Stone's playing at The Vanguard. Dammit, dammit, dammit.
