My bro's going away for the weekend! Wooohooo!!

The house to myself! And the cellar to myself!! Even better!! Lounging around in underwear sounds good to me. And doing some cleanup and packing the winter clothes back into the garage, and taking out the summer ones. Actually, I'm looking forward to just lounging around in my underwear. Oh yea... is the SMH coming out on Monday?

So I woke up too late to go see the doctor today. My knee's not as uncomfortable as it was yesterday or the day before, so perhaps I'll wait til Tuesday.

Let us eat cake day!
Met up with Trees earlier to go DJ bridal registry-ing. Also debunked her theory on "more of a bargain" thing. No woman, you are trying to save the money, not give away more *shakes head*
Then we headed to 85 deg. for cake. Such as:
- Coffee brulee - the cream was a bit on the frozen side, was it supposed to be like that??? I liked the creamy toffee covered nuts though, very nice.
- Boston - very light sponge and creamy, light textured cream. Crunchy nuts add a good texture
- Iced Ovaltine was overly sweet, but then again I never add sugar to chocolate so it could be my tastebuds' preference.
Lena and Jam joined us, then Angi, Leach and Shilpa! Ordered cakes such as Chocolate Napoleon, Chocolate Boston and Strawberry Cardina. All looked very nice but standing on George St eating cake didn't seem favourable to more-cake-eating.

After that was a short stint in Kinokuniya, looking at manga, humour books, a glance at the French cookery books. And a head down to JBhifi to find some cds and dvds.

Then Cat joined us after a hard day at work, and Leach went off to her free dinner ;) We went to Ichiban boshi upstairs across from Kinokuniya. A very busy place and very popular it seems. Served by Japanese peeps instead of the usual Koreans or Chinese. Green rice tea, cokes, fantas, and a cappuccino. And chashu ramen, sukiyaki, ebi-don, karaage cheese curry, tonkatsu don and an okonomiyaki to share. Next time remind me to get toppings with my ramen, just meat, some chopped spring onion and ramen makes one feel like vegies...

So after dinner, we split ways and headed on home after that. I wouldn't have minded watching The Devil Wears Prada but my eyeballs were hurting and I had a headache coming home, I'd been wearing my glasses for a very long time and my head wasn't taking it well.

Got home 'round 2130 (other than the Carlingford-Clyde line, the Liverpool line is the suckiest in the entire Cityrail system). I was chatting to the Cityrail officer for 30min at Lidcombe station after I just missed the LPL train home.

Then I didn't get to sleep til around 0400 after dad asked me to redeem Krisflyer miles for him online. I ask you, if he had the time to write an email to me (15min) and give me all his details (AEST0100), surely it would have been easier for him to do it himself???? I had to call him to clear stuff up and didn't get off the phone til AEST0230. Mum and Dad are currently taking a holiday in Shanghai and popping to Suzhou as well. Coincidentally so is Josh.

Me: "Oh yea Dad go to the Sex Museum!"
Dad: *sniggers* "Yea, we'll see if there's time, it's a tour"
Me: "Oh but daaad, you'll love it!"
Dad: "Well I can't take photos anyway"
Me: "Yea I know that, bring me back a souvenir booklet."
Both: *snigger*
You know how dads usually have dad humour, why do my dad and I share dirty jokes??

Recent purchases:
- Sandrine - Dark Fades Into The Light - previously of 'Trigger' fame. I like her music, it's very relaxing and listen to anytime kinda thing.

So Shilpa IS alive

I'm soooo gonna kick her butt, especially when she didn't rsvp to anything, even though she got the invites. Grrr... *picks up spikey boots* At least there's a new address now and number (same address that I found whilst on whitepages and was contemplating calling).

My computer's running very slowly coz my brother decided to download over 20GB of stuff off the net. ARGH!! So I can't even load up mugglenet or gaters. Grrr... another 4 days of slower than 56k speed.

Have decided to read up on all the chapters of books (which I was supposed to read over 3 years) and do some newer reading before starting in January. Well I handed in the paperwork to LPL yesterday, mind you they sent it a month late so I felt rightly justified in handing in my stuff 2 days late. So the 8th of January, I'll be a full time working woman, at the ripe old age of 21. Although I have to ask Karen about the Salary Packaging and Super stuff, and tax claims for nurses and such. I need an accountant. Maybe I'll hire Shilpa as my accountant. Only if I can get into contact with her. LOL.It's the reality of working sinking in, the transition into adulthood, graduating from uni, starting a job, driving a car, scrambling...
Well anyone wanna try 85 degrees cake shop on George St. As it was posted up on Grab Your Fork (cake lovers beware of drooling from own mouth), $2 a slice of cake til the 8th October, normally $3.80. I should buy like 2 dozen slices and just head up to your office Trees ;)

Well holidays for you guys now, Leach I still gotta get you your Ps, dunno when that'd be... I'm not doing anything on Thursday if you're not doing anything or in Melbourne yet. Could also do ramen if possible. Did I mention cake??

Tis getting chillier now in comparison to Sunday's 34 degrees in Liverpool. Gaaahhh... and now it's what, 20C?

Mish and I were talking about bridemaids' and matron of Honour dresses on Friday (no not the entire day). So Cat, Leach, Viv, Trees ;) you wanna wear this for my wedding? Can anyone ever look bad in corset? I can't think of anyone looking bad in a corset, of course it'd be stifling and uncomfortable and rib-breakable ;)

Recent purchases:
- black witchy kinda dress from TOL - I look kinda pregnant, if I inhale enough I look like I have another 5 months to go.
- 50 great curries of India by Camellia Panjabi - most of the time I walk out of Borders empty handed but not last week. Not badda book, explains some stuff I've always wanted to know about Indian cookery and would've taken years for me to learn on my own (especially without a gran or mother to teach).

Mail, junk, mail, junk, oooh mail

I love the mail I've received lately. Firstly there's the Vintage Cellars monthly newsletter, which this month is introducing the Wynn's Coonawarra wine specials. Nice. Secondly I FINALLY GOT MY PAPERWORK. Incidently I got it on Monday the 18th, coincidentally it's the day of rotation for the 2006 new grads, and I take that as a sign that I should start in January.
And thirdly, the Tetsuya's voucher. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Very happy today *jumps up and down clapping and spinning round*

*achem*

*grins stupidly*

Had kebabs at yabs last night. TC Brothers, not bad, lotsa meat and kinda lacking in lettuce, my brother would enjoy that. And you can taste the garlic sauce, not bad at all. My usual of chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion, tabouli, hommous and garlic sauce. Mmmm... in my short, short life, that probably would have been my 30-somethingth kebab. And Phil had his first kebab last night, doner with tomato in it, so "Success!" in getting him to eat a slice or two of tomato!

Had some cab sav when I got home last night. Meh... it wasn't fantabulous... but today is a day for rum! As yes International speak like a pirate day (yargh!), rum cocktails... letsee, I have Bacardi white superior and Captain Morgan dark rum. Hmmm... Mai Tais, Rum & Coke, Rum punch, Daiquiris, Pina Coladas, Egg Nogg (Christmas really), oh oh Blue Hawaiian! Damn I don't have pineapple juice or coconut cream.
Say "I ate a banana today" if you can read this

Mado's cafe in Auburn, gooood

My bro and I went out for Turkish last night (after some persuasion). He has a habit of not taking stuff out for dinner and then asking me over and over again what I want for dinner. Then I ask him what he wants for dinner, and it's PONG from there.
So going to Mado Cafe in Auburn. Ordered Kisir, a buckwheat, tomato, spring onions and capsicum salad. Quite salty but nice. And a gourmet dish, Guvec (there's actually an umlaut over the u and cedilla). That is an eggplant, diced lamb, tomato, capsicum dish, very tasty. Both served with freshly baked Turkish bread, mmm... Oh and a chargrilled lamb fillet dish, I forget what it was called (tendency to forget the names I can't pronounce) which was served with some tomatoey rice timbale thing, grilled whole green chilli and tomato, onion, green capsicum salad, which was nice and refreshing. And 2 cups of cay (chah-yee).

I was really looking forward to dondurma and Salep but the freezer wasn't working so I ordered a Kazandibi instead. Which has the texture of SE Asian "gou" desserts. Very sticky, not too sweet, and caramelised with a sprinkling of cinnamon, very nice.
Next time I'm having dondurma.

Yays! Tetsuya's is booked and they're sending the voucher to my house. Thank you everyone for the present. I'm looking forward to it so much! :D :D But Leach can you make it for Nov. 30th? Already booked in for 1900.Like I could take anyone else ;P Well you know I don't wanna, who appreciates food as much as Leach and I??? ;)
Otherwise, I'll call and change the date. Earlier before the 20th? 16th then? 17th? Or the 18th? It's Viv who has youth group on Friday nights yes?

Yays for ramen! Let's go have some! I'm craving some good Jap ramen, not Korean ramen.

So the LPL coordinator called me yesterday, she said my papers were all jumbled up in other paperwork and they hadn't sent it yet. I was getting a bit worried there coz I hadn't received it and I already withdrew from nursecon. So I indeed do have a job later on. But it seems like I'll go into the January intake (considering the Sept 18th rotation seems to be running awfully late).

I've been looking over the old tv series 'Heaven Sword, Dragon Sabre' 1993/4 *sighs* I wanna get it in Canto, shame it's not in production anymore AND it's incomplete, but Kathy Chow is so pretty... and Steve Ma's sooo pretty as well... *sighs* reminiscing of being younger...

Are there any other fashion faux pas? Or perceived faux pas out there? And is it related to Sydney Anglo-Saxon society we live in? It's interesting coz when you look at HK, and then look at Korea, and then the Harajuku district in Tokyo, fashion is so different. Well definitely in the Harajuku district, but the fashion/clothing in Sydney is so dull, so bland, soo... uninteresting. Kinda like our politics, quite conservative. I get teased (friendly) by the regular shop owner we go to in HK for having a very bland clothing taste. Another difference is in Sydney we can do low cut tops, whereas in HK, the men stare. They stare. And it's annoying. And yelling at them in English doesn't help. Meanwhile I haven't seen many women with anything bigger than a B. Considering the plethora of AAs that can be bought in M&S. ;P

Recent purchases:
- green silk dress from Tree of Life - shopping with Mish after the gym, went kinda Tree of Life cwwwazy.
- lilac coloured slip - oops bought the wrong size, gotta go back on Thursday to exchange.
- Keeping Mum dvd - very funny film, kinda dark, okay yea it's dark but it's a funny Brit comedy.

Part 2 Head coverings... and gaaaahhhh...

Well, came up with a conclusion tonight about head coverings. Essentially, the passage is about showing a sign of authority, of being submissive to someone else. I would like to take the opportunity to define submission now. Submission is (in full knowledge and understanding) consenting to follow someone's will.
5 options for this passage:
  1. Totally inapplicable
  2. Apply the principle only - an attitude of submission is what counts
  3. Apply the principle, but the principle is more than just attitude. It's about an attitude of submission that is "obvious"
  4. Apply the concrete pattern but in a culturally meaningful way - having a physical "sign" of submission
  5. Apply the concrete pattern in the way Paul applied it - wearing head coverings

IMHO, points 3 and 4 are the same, we live in the 21st century, after the feminist movement and we've all been brought up to think freely and do anything. Head coverings in this time, age and culture will remind us of being doormats to men, I'm not saying the Muslim women wearing hijabs are doormats to their male relatives, but if we do wear head coverings in church whilst prayer and prophesying, I think it would be strange, it's not done in the low Anglican culture.

I'd rather follow point 4, a physical "sign" of submission in a culturally meaningful way. I'd wear a wedding ring on my left hand. That is THE sign of marriage, submission to your husband (to Christians) in our culture. I see head coverings as something cultural, if it is a sign/symbol to show that you are under someone else's authority, the wedding ring is the way to go. But remember, just coz the husband wears a ring too doesn't mean he is being submissive to the wife, he wears the ring to show he is head of a family/household/responsible/committed.

So if I do marry, the ring will be all. Or perhaps I should perm my hair when that happens, reminds me of all those HK tv dramas I used to watch as a kid.
Fuzhou women - distinction between married/unmarried
Amy Chan Sau Man in 'The Good Old Days' (1997). I love this series...
Makes me all sentimental like - I always thought Ma Jing Tao was very handsome, okay okay I still think Ma Jing Tao is very handsome. Must be those years of watching 'Heavenly Sword, Dragon Sabre' the Taiwanese version.

Some limerick searching inspired by Cat's latest post.

I poured her a small glass of wine
And she giggled and looked quite divine;
So I poured her some more
But she fell to the floor ...
Wasn't quite what I had in my mind.

Fusion class at Parramatta was fun (gym). It was some screwed up version of latin, and hip hop. Not bad at all, not very much of a workout even though my deltoids were sore the day after. My deltoids yes. Just imagine what moves we were doing... but anyway, they have a steam room!! I'm convincing Mish to stay back next week (and possibly the week after), I lurve steam rooms. Yea...

In other news, I don't like Pad Thai, too sweet for my tastebuds, or it could be the restaurant up the road... but gaaah, their Som Tum tastes ughhh as well. I want Som Tum and pineapple from BKK!!
Let's see if this works
Recent purchases:
- AWW low fat feasts recipe book - I know I know, Mish and I are cooking and B's restricted to a something-something cal diet/day so we need to cook unabashedly low fat. For shame, I have never bought AWW in my life...

Part 1 Head coverings

God help me I have incredible control, I held out... and did not yell.
We just read over, discussed, talked about, went off on tangents on 1 Cor 11: 1-16.
Some of the topics discussed:
- ESV, NASB, NIV differences in terms, also in Greek (very interesting)
- in comparison to NIV, ESV uses the term 'wife' instead of 'woman' (I like that very much and to me, makes more sense) also side note to Ephesians where the word 'wife' is used in the original Greek, however when the same word is used in 1Cor, its translation was changed to 'woman'. Hmmmmm... changes the meaning and context muchly.
- christian women are "submissive" to a certain degree to christian men *breathe woman breathe* - depends on what you term submissive, I would never, ever, ever be the husband-wife submissive to any christian man, I'd listen to what they have to say (as you would to any other person), make a judgment and decide whether to agree/disagree/follow through. Just like you would for any other person. Do some women feel more comfortable leaving decisions for men than rather making up their own mind and using their own judgment?? I just don't understand people like that!
- tangent onto homosexuality - NO THERE IS NO GAY GENE - my goodness, you see how the media blows everything up and confuses everyone. And I thought it was old news but apparently not. Are people getting daft? Ok, I'm being harsh now. Here's a controversial question, what do people think of homosexual ministers, practicing their sexuality or not?
- women in preaching/teaching roles in the church - gaaahhh... I'm still very gaaaahhh on that issue.

I'm sure there was more that was spoken about but I was busy keeping my mouth shut and not yelling/scolding/being rude. Also had my head in my arms for a small amount of time giggling. Hehe submission, that's funny.

You know at this rate, I am never gonna marry. Sorry to ruin your hopes of being my bridal sister Cat, no money for you! Or for anyone really coz you know, all the PLC ladies would automatically be sisters (tsi mui).

Body combat tomorrow evening, yays for sweating like a pig in a sauna!

Recent purchases:
- 3 sports bras - really expensive, I can't believe they cost so much, but really needed them... btw Berlei New Legend Underwire is recommended, it's padded at the straps and convertible to action strap which is great but I wish it had padded cups...
- Extras series 1 dvd - still need to watch
- some socks

Side note: Fanfiction.net is currently experiencing heavier than expected traffic and are unable to fulfill your request at this time. My craving for fanfics is, is, is gaaaaahhhhhhh... must move onto siye.

Another side note: anyone want my pituiary gland? Anyone? The change from a mostly sedentary to an active lifestyle has confused my pituitary gland muchly. I'm running late. Anyone wanna swap pituitary glands?Fixed now... Bwhahaha

Another side note: I still haven't taken Trees bra shopping yet. Bwhahahaha, something to look forward to in November! Bwhahahahaha, naah I need some new bras. I love Bendon Body Babe Contour but the straps, 6 out of 7/8 have frayed and getting slightly annoying. But it's so comfy!! Perhaps it's time to move onto balcony or full support ones. Yea, it may be time.

RANT: Why do the girls at church still believe brown and black don't go together? Brown and black is NOT a fashion faux pas. It should be a rich dark brown that goes with black. Perhaps they're white girls so they just can't wear those colours anyway. *shrugs* What do you guys think?

My calves are so sore...

Michelle, Amy and I did a Body Combat class at the gym this week (Wednesday). Gahhhh... my calves... my calves... it's that lovely delayed onset muscle soreness which comes along the morning after. So right now I'm dawdling around the house like a pregnant woman and heel down first, then toe, heel down first, then toe. Ice, ice, need some ice.

But still, it's a whole lotta fun, damn sore but lotsa fun. We were cooling down to the Haka, or the Ka Mate one. We just insulted every kiwi we know in doing that, bunch of Aussies, women! Aussie women! Doing the Haka *shakes head*. So next week we'll be learning a new routine so I'm looking forward to it.

So give or take 4 or 5 times a week, which is good for me. Yes Leach I know the word.

I think we'll be doing the Head covering talk (1 Cor 11) on Monday, will tell you how it goes. Will be interesting.
Just reading up some on head coverings. It's incredibly frustrating. Gahh... what do you ladies think?

Oh yes, I was reading the fine print in the Terms and Agreements on Sony Imagestation. Have realised that the basic membership only lasts for 12months and after that, they either make you upgrade ($$$) or delete your account if you don't. In these circumstances I'll be moving all My photos to BubbleShare. Will post up links when done.

My photos now updated to BubbleShare. Have also removed some albums...
